There is no state forest land in this district under the jurisdiction of Bogra Social Forest Department. As there is no state-owned forest land, the greater Bogra district has long been outside the purview of the conventional management of the forest department. In addition, due to the huge demand for forest resources, unplanned deforestation has resulted in deforestation. Therefore, there is an adverse reaction in the production system and environment in this region. In view of this situation, a Community Growth Center was set up at Sherpur in Bogra district in 1982 with the aim of expanding tree resources under the control of the Northern Forest Department. The Social Forest Department was formed on 29 May 1971 in Bogra and Joypurhat districts to raise the awareness of the local people on an urgent basis, to provide fuel wood and animal feed, to stop desertification, to prevent the depletion of water levels and to maintain the balance of climate and environment.
